San Damiano Crosses
The San Damiano Cross was originally one of a number of crosses painted in Umbria in the 12th Century. It is believed that it was this type of cross that St. Francis was praying to when he had his vision of the living Christ and was given his mission to rebuild the Church. I have used the basic shape of the San Damiano Cross to create collages expressing the joy and beauty of the faith. This collection is made with mixed collage, vintage elements, papers, paints, and multi-layered texturing.
